A Relationship Tarot Reading for Jeanne

Tarot readings can give us so much information about ourselves and the situations in our lives. They each have their own rhythm. Sometimes they reference an immediate situation and sometimes they take a while to come to pass. This relationship Tarot reading for Jeanne had elements of both. Much of what was indicated in the cards was taking place during the time of the reading and within a very short time afterwards. Some things took a little longer to come into sharper focus.

Jeanne (not her real name) has given me permission to share her reading. To protect her privacyy, the names used here are pseudonyms.

Her question – I have deep feelings for my my male co-worker, David. I feel like sometimes he reciprocates but other times I wonder if it is all in my head? Can you please give me some insight to the situation or future?

To be able to give her more insights into the situation, I broke her question down into two parts;

Question 1 –  Is Jeanne reading David correctly?

1 card draw + Foundation card

Temperance
David is juggling something in his life, with a foot (and plans) in two worlds. This is an important time for David and will prove to be life changing for him.

Foundation Card (the foundation of her question-situation)  – 3 Wands (drawn from the bottom of the Tarot deck)
Something has already started moving for David and his path (or project) has begun, but the 3 shows it is still in the creation stage. Threes indicate beginnings; things still in the gestation period and not yet fully materialized.

Question 2 – What is Jeanne not seeing or understanding in David?

Outer-Inner Spread + Answer Card + Clarifier Card

Outer aspects of the situation – The Hermit R / 7 Swords R
On the outside, David can be self-absorbed, distant and secretive (The Hermit R). He has baggage he is trying to deal with (7 Swords) as well as coming to terms with something very important in his life. He has a tendency to deal with things privately, especially now.

Inner aspects of the situation – 7 Wands
7 Wands is a leap of faith card. David is contemplating doing exactly that, either with you or in this situation in his life – or both. If it is with you, he is likely trying to figure out how to fit things with you into his other plans. If it is a leap of faith regarding his plans that have been referenced above, he is getting himself ready to take that leap and stand his ground when he does. My sense is that it is the latter.

There are two 7s in this spread. Sevens indicate a waiting period while things finish evolving into completion.

Answer Card – A Change in the Wind – 12 – (Wisdom of the Oracle deck)
There is a big change coming and an uncertainty about what that change will bring. Things are not always black and white. There has been a shift and you and David may be out of sync in your lives right now, or soon will be. There could be cloudy emotions between you as the change progresses. Be aware of what you need to make yourself happy and do not settle for less. Good will come of this change.

The number of this card (12) adds to 3 (1+2=3), which shows again that something is in a gestation stage.

Clarifier card for the change coming – Flexible – 19 – (Wisdom of the Oracle deck)
This card speaks of being adaptable yet firmly grounded in who you are and what is most important to you. It speaks of open-mindedness, flexible thoughts and actions, and letting go of rigidity and expectations.

The number of this card (19) adds to 1 (1+9=10 /1+0=1). Ones indicate new beginnings.

Conclusion
Something big and important is happening in David’s life, even if it is not yet obvious to others. Because you care about him, you are going to feel it and perhaps be caught up in it. You will need to be flexible in mind and actions when dealing with what is coming. Bend in the wind so you do not break. Go with the flow rather than fighting it. Be aware and accepting, but always stay true to yourself.

HOW IT TURNED OUT… The cards foretold what was coming for them. Jeanne’s words tell us how it went;

“Thank you, Barbara, for your reading. The person in question shared with me the changes they were going through and, as you predicted, it is bigger than he and I. I hope we do not fall out of sync as we confide in one another and, if nothing romantic ensues, I would at least like to remain friends.

What you wrote shocked me but also made me look again at the situation at hand. This was the first [Tarot] reading I have had that was quite to the point. I prefer to be told rather than skirt around the edges. Instead of a reading of what you found overall,  you gave feedback at each step of the way.  I liked that. It helped me follow along.

I am glad you gave me a heads up because when David did confide in me,  I was expecting it. I feel that he does care for me more than as a colleague. But with this decision he has to make, he may leave work and if neither of us step forward to say something, I am afraid I will lose him.”

A few months later I wrote to see how she was doing. Here is her response;

“We are both well. You were right; David had quite a large business opportunity and was trying to decide what to do. He has since left our workplace. We are still friends and quite close. Thank you for thinking of us.”

I Become The Fool and Start a Tarot Blog

Mother Tarot - Tarot Blog - The Fool - Robin Wood Tarot
Robin Wood Tarot

I have been thinking about writing a Tarot blog for a while but have always hesitated. Perhaps it was my own shyness or a fear of putting myself out there, but it seems the time has finally come for me to quit hesitating. It is time to become The Fool – to trust The Universe, step out off that cliff and see what happens.

As I add my voice to the many other excellent Tarot blogs out there, what is it I feel I can add to the mix? I think it is the inherent compassion in the name, ‘Mother Tarot.’ I am adding another voice of care and compassion to a field that has often been denigrated but should not have been. Tarot has become an amazing tool for accessing the inner parts of ourselves that speak to our highest good. That access should not be denied out of fear or misunderstanding. Tarot is a valid, effective tool of the subconscious. It teaches us about ourselves, our own growth and that of others. It is a way to grow within ourselves and to help others do the same.

Ace of Cups - Mother Tarot - Robin Wood Tarot

My daughter said it best when I told her I was thinking of writing a Tarot blog and trying to come up  with a good name. She told me I should call it ‘Mother Tarot‘ because my readings are like a mother – they come from the heart and are caring and compassionate. I was touched by her words. The name felt perfect as soon as she said it – simple and to the point.  Thanks, Hon!  Sometimes you just need another perspective.

Since deciding on the name, I have been thinking about how to make this blog a reality. Many ideas for posts have been swimming through my mind and I am anxious to get them written. I hope you will join me on this new journey of sharing and discovery. I also hope  this will be a reciprocal experience and that you will share your comments, ideas and experiences with me. As excited as I am to get Mother Tarot moving forward, there is still a bit of apprehension as to how it will be received. Any hand-holding you can offer on this new venture will be very much appreciated!

Well, having made my declaration and despite it feeling safe and familiar up here on this cliff, I guess it is officially time to step off… so here I go!
