The Rohrig Tarot 8 of Pentacles is a compelling image. It draws you right in to its message.
Numbers are interesting. They tell of phases within cycles. The energy of the 7 of Pentacles card is often depicted as someone resting for a bit, waiting on the fruits of their labor. At this stage, it can sometimes feel like we are not getting anywhere fast, that our efforts are not paying off as we had imagined. Patience is called for as we await our reward. As the 8 of Pentacles energy begins to affect the situation, things start to look and feel more promising. Our worries start to ease. There is still a lot of work to do and more patient waiting to be endured. But now it all flows more smoothly and efficiently. We have improved our skills and found better ways to make use of our time and tools. Because of all our planning, hard work and efforts, our vision is beginning to manifest.
Numerologically, I have always envisioned an 8 as a three dimensional extension of a 4. At the 4 stage (2 dimensions), a foundation has been built. I see it in my mind as a flat shape, laying on the ground, like a floor. When the 8 stage (3 dimensions) arrives, that floor is now rising, like a building from its foundation, coming into three dimensional manifestation. Every time I see a building being built, I think of this.
My favorite 8 of Pentacles card depicts this concept beautifully. It is from the Rohrig Tarot, the English language version of which is now, regrettably, out of print. It shows a tree beginning to fill out the matrix of what it is to be, but has not yet fully become. The growth is rising up the trunk and we see the energy-form it will inhabit when it is complete. It will be magnificent!
At the base of the tree, five people stand close together, looking toward a glow in the distance. Through the years, I have seen those people in a variety of ways; a team working on a project, a family, the five senses, five obstacles or challenges (that once seemed daunting but are now seen in their true proportion to the project).
The glow feels to be the energy of the growth that is taking place and the pride of all those involved with making this incredible thing happen.
I do love this 8 of Pentacles card. It is one of my favorites among many in this very special deck. Has anyone ever worked with this deck before? If so, I would love for you to share how you felt about the readings you had with it.
